LOTTE BIOLOGICS held a curriculum information session for the "LOTTE BIOLOGICS Academy Cohort," jointly operated with Korea Polytechnics Bio Campus.
The briefing took place at the LOTTE Hotel Service Academy in Jamsil, Seoul on the 15th and was attended by potential applicants and their parents interested in the “LOTTE BIOLOGICS Academy Cohort” (“LOTTE Cohort”). The event featured ▲a welcome speech ▲an introduction to LOTTE BIOLOGICS ▲an overview of the LOTTE Cohort curriculum ▲a Q&A session, demonstrating the high level of interest in the LOTTE Cohort among diverse students and parents from various regions across the country. Korea Polytechnics Bio Campus live-streamed the session on its YouTube channel, providing an opportunity for students who were unable to attend in person to participate virtually.
The LOTTE Cohort is a biotechnology talent education program developed jointly by LOTTE BIOLOGICS and Korea Polytechnics Bio Campus to nurture working-level industry professionals. The program aims to contribute to the development of the biotech industry by providing tailored education and fostering practical talent. The inaugural LOTTE Cohort, set to matriculate in March 2024, will be recruiting new students from the Bioprocess Engineering department of Korea Polytechnics Bio Campus, with a total enrollment of 30 students for the year. Priority will be given to applicants from underprivileged backgrounds, such as basic livelihood subsidy recipients, with additional consideration for those who excel at English. The curriculum includes essential theoretical and practical courses such as Production, QC/QA, GMP, Validation, and will also offer an intensive English program throughout the semester.
A representative of LOTTE BIOLOGICS stated, “LOTTE BIOLOGICS is committed to fulfilling its social responsibility by providing customized hands-on education and internship opportunities to students of Korea Polytechnics Bio Campus, and prioritizing recruitment of program graduates as production staff in the future. Through the LOTTE Cohort, we hope to maximize synergy by providing the students with the practical experience they need, based on our expertise and know-how in biotechnology, while nurturing outstanding human resources for the company.”
Meanwhile, LOTTE BIOLOGICS also plans to begin operation of three biotech plants with a total capacity of 360,000 liters by 2034, to achieve sales of USD 3 billion and an operating profit margin of 35%. Accordingly, the company plans to gradually expand its recruitment initiatives. Recently, it has been actively contributing to solving the talent shortage in the biotech industry and creating jobs by launching the 'Open Innovation Internship,' an inclusive program that places no restrictions on applicants’ experience or prior background, and by signing a memorandum of understanding for the development of industry-academia cooperation programs with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Korea Polytechnics.
