LOTTE BIOLOGICS Pioneers Inclusive Open Innovation Internship Program
■ Successful recruitment of mid-career professionals, international talent through Open Innovation Internship
■ Continuous win-win outcomes and talent acquisition via diverse hiring initiatives
LOTTE BIOLOGICS' 'Open Innovation Internship' has established itself as an exemplary win-win recruitment strategy, yielding mutual benefits for both the company and interns.
On the 7th, LOTTE BIOLOGICS (CEO Richard Lee) announced the ongoing success of its Open Innovation Internship Program, designed to nurture talent for the thriving bio industry.
The Open Innovation Internship is LOTTE BIOLOGICS' unique hiring initiative that welcomes applicants regardless of gender, nationality, age, education, or professional background. The program offers flexible internship durations, tailored to suit both company needs and individual circumstances.
Prospective interns can apply through the company's talent database system. When internship opportunities arise, suitable candidates are selected for the screening process. A key feature of this program is its year-round availability, with adjustable work periods to accommodate diverse circumstances.
Introduced in August last year, the program has already attracted around 2,000 applicants. Dozens have been hired, representing a diverse pool of human resources including university students, mid-career professionals, designers, and overseas talent, all of whom are now gaining valuable experience and showcasing their skills at LOTTE BIOLOGICS.
In a notable example, a 56-year-old intern (born in 1968) with an international law license made significant contributions by developing employee regulatory guidelines for the U.S. subsidiary. Another success story involves a foreign intern with a master's degree in biotechnology, who has been instrumental in conducting academic research, fostering knowledge exchanges, and enhancing the global communication skills of her respective team.
The program has also provided opportunities for international students in Korea to gain practical experience in their fields of study, potentially leading to long-term employment, and thereby contributing to job creation in the country.
A recent intern shared their experience: "This internship went beyond just securing a job. I was assigned to a role that truly enhanced my career and allowed me to play a vital part in real-world projects. The opportunity to immerse myself in the corporate culture and engage in meaningful work alongside corporate professionals was incredibly rewarding."
A LOTTE BIOLOGICS representative commented, "The fresh perspectives and solutions offered by our diverse interns have been invaluable in understanding global biotech regulatory requirements and have added depth to our operations. We hope the Open Innovation Internship program continues to create growth opportunities for both the company and interns. We remain committed to identifying exceptional talent and nurturing skilled professionals in the field."
In related news, LOTTE BIOLOGICS is actively collaborating with universities both at home and abroad to strengthen the biotech industry ecosystem. On October 16th, the company signed agreements with five Korean universities to develop industry-academic cooperation programs, aiming to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills required in the workplace.
